One of my projects last year. Took approximately 6 month to complete, not stitching every day, but i did stitch at least a day every week.

Beautiful work! I haven’t been brave enough to try anything this detailed yet. I noticed the grid lines you drew on the fabric. How do you get the measurements right? It looks like it would make things a lot easier. My method is more counting, crossing my fingers that it’s right, and picking out the stitches if I mess up.

What floss do you find gives the nicest work I was looking at dmc but there is different kinds, I plan to do this one in the near future what a beautiful piece of work.

Well – there’s not much choice – this pattern specified DMC and so that’s what I had to use. You can’t easily change to another brand because the colours differ slightly from brand to brand (and it would also be a lot of work to figure out which colours were the best matches).

If you’re making the pattern yourself then of course you’re free to choose whichever brand you find best, but the main brands (Anchor and DMC) both seem to be good quality thread.

      Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚

I recently watched this video from a link on “The World of Cross Stitching” facebook page. I noticed at the start of the video you did not have any grid lines on it, but as the work progressed they were added. I wanted to know if they were put on with some special type of marking pen or it is it just standard pencil/pen? or other?
    Thanks.

      Hi Amy
The lines were added later because I made a mistake – half of my stitches were wrong. In video about 15 sec in you can see the middle part being 3 crosses lower then it should be, and I couldn’t find the mistake. So I was quite cross at it and decided that I needed some guidelines ๐Ÿ™‚ I used a usual HB pencil and I would recommend drawing very lightly. If you have white in your cross stitch they may shine through. If you do make them too strong, you can always remove them with a normal eraser.
